into the ministry at the age of 22. He
preached and pastored his entire military career. He started following
the call of God in an Army dayroom under Pastor Wayne D. Baker, and
with New Harvest Outreach under the late James Tolbert. In 1978 God
moved the heart of Johnnie to join in with Pastor Baker and the Pleasant
Grove A.M.E. Church. He entered into the conference of the A.M.E.

Faithfully standing with his mentor and Pastor Wayne D. Baker Johnnie,
Pastor Robinson Co-founded the Spirit Filled Methodist Church. Ten
years of his pastoral work was in Aschaffenburg Germany. While in
Germany he became the president of the largest gathering of black
churches in Europe, “European Explosion”. He served as

of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good
work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: For truly
the harvest is plenteous, but the laborers are few. The Holy Spirit
impressed these words upon the heart and spirit of Rev. Johnnie Clifton
Robinson, Jr. Thus Higher Power Outreach grew out of a vision from
God. As early as summer of 1994, Rev. Robinson realized that God was
requiring him to begin this mission in the Phenix City, Alabama, Columbus,
Georgia area. Rev Robinson discussed this vision with his wife Sharon,
who was very supportive of him in this effort.
Rev. Robinson took steps to begin the outreach ministry.
Being led by the Spirit of God, he felt the need for a discipleship
ministry with every potential member being trained and equipped to
win souls for Christ. This vision was shared with a small group of
faithful saints.
and communion with God, the group had their first
church service at the Robinson’s home in Columbus, Georgia.
A closer walk with Jesus, a spiritual renewal, and outreach to the
lost, bruised, battered, broken, forgotten, depressed, distressed,
homeless and all needy souls was imperative. Through Rev. Robinson’s
leadership, a Church filled with the Holy Spirit and led by God was
the burning desire of this group. The Church was to be an independent,
non denominational church. Realizing that the Church must completely
rely on the Holy Spirit to accomplish this great task, the name Higher
Power Outreach was given.
Higher Power Outreach Church officially took possession
of the property at 1200 12th Court, which was owed by the Calvary
Temple Assembly of God Church. This property would later be the corner
stone of success for many members of Each One Reach One homless shelter
through job training, spiritual motivation and christian education.
This process was enhanced by a minister named Rev. Robert P. Youngblood.
the Rev. Mary Jo Davis, the youngest sister to Pastor
Johnnie Robinson was instrumental in getting plans for a child care
center in the church. She went on to become its first director. While
maintaining a child care center, she was also instrumental in starting
a children’s church too. Rev. Dennis proved that there are no
tasks too large, no task too small. She trusted God and did them all.
was a beginning of the manifestation of many
of the dreams of Pastor Robinson. Coming into focus and reality were
the things that God wanted for this area was at hand. It is our prayer
that God will continue to bless our efforts. With the great help of
Rev. Mary Jo (Dennis) Davis Power Up Daycare was born and now serves
Phenix City and Columbus parents. He faithfully gives thanks each
day for God’s grace and mercy that has shown in a mighty way
in all of our endeavors. He gives many thanks for those who have helped
move the ministry forward and welcome new members who will help take
it to the next level.
Currently Pastor Robinson is the Vice President of
Phenix City Russell County Ministerial Alliance, Lee/Russell County,
and Russell County Habitat for Humanity. He is a graduate of Lambauch
School for Literacy, Billy Graham School of Evangelism, and School
of Advanced Evangelism, Stephen Olford School for Biblical Preaching,
and Troy State University where he acquired his Degree in Business
Administration.
